Potential Wetlands Presence - This wetlands layer is a variation on the Wetlands Inventory (WetInv) layer. A less complex data layer with all wetlands classed the same/merged was needed for web and other appications/products.Potential Wetland Presence is the result of combining National Wetlands Inventory, county mapped, county permitted, and modeled wetlands (these sources are considered to be the best available information). The layer is used during the review of development applications to indicate the potential for the presence of wetland areas. A value of "Potential Presence" is an indication that wetlands may exist and this may require additional review and/or an independent wetlands survey to be performed by a licensed professional.The features in Potential Wetland Presence are not accurate enough to be used to determine if wetlands are actually present on the ground. Only an independent wetlands delineation survey by a licensed professional can provide an accurate assessment of the presence of wetlands for a given property or area. |
